Cengage Unlimited Sells One Million Subscriptions and Counting

By Lorena Roberts on February 26, 2019

According to a recent press release, Cengage Unlimited has sold one million subscriptions as an online textbook option. A subscription to Cengage Unlimited gives you access to over 22,000 products! You might be thinking this is too good to be true, but there’s no catch! Those thousands of products include eBooks, homework access codes, and study guides.

“This significant milestone underscores how an incumbent can serve as a catalyst for an industry in need of change. One million subscriptions sold in only seven months shows that students are willing to embrace new solutions that offer value.  With Cengage Unlimited, we are well on the path to removing barriers that have caused students to limit their course load, change majors, skip meals or forgo buying materials because they cannot afford them,” said Michael E. Hansen, CEO of Cengage.

But wait… there’s more:

Buying a subscription to Cengage Unlimited also gives you free access to offers from Kaplan, Quizlet, and Chegg (and Cengage anticipates even more partnerships to come!). No matter how many materials you use, you’ll only be charged the one price, and you’ll be able to have access to as many resources as you need! Subscriptions cost $119.99 a semester ($179.99 a year) and are available directly from Cengage, online or at campus and off-campus bookstores. Print rentals are available for $7.99 and include free shipping.

On average, students spend around $500 on their books. (Sometimes even more!) But with Cengage Unlimited, students only have to pay one price and they have access to all the educational materials they could need to be successful in school.

More than 500 schools participate in Cengage’s Savings Map. This tool allows faculty, administrators and students to see which courses use Cengage at their institution, even using it to estimate how much it could save them on textbooks!

“Students have already saved $60 million this academic year,” Hansen continued.  “We are very pleased with our success to date and look forward to offering students even more ways to achieve affordable access to quality learning.”
