Part-Time Fashion Jobs for Even the Busiest of Fashionistas

By Amanda Cohen on May 11, 2017

Being a fashionista and a student is sometimes no easy feat. It is extremely difficult, unless you go to a specialty school or live in areas like New York or California, to pursue your fashion dreams while being a full-time student.

If your major is psychology, communications, or even religious studies but you have a true passion for fashion (and a true passion for making some extra spending money) then read on because I have a list of amazing part-time fashion jobs for my fellow shopaholics and fashionistas!

Before I delve into the list, I want to talk to my readers about a couple of fantastic websites in which you can easily find these job listings: and The beautiful things about these two websites is they are extremely user-friendly and they allow members of the website (free membership) to apply to jobs with the click of a button! Literally, all you have to do is type in “part-time fashion jobs” in the search box and then use the drop-down menu to select locations and BAM! you have thousands of listings.

However, I wanted to expedite the process for you and talk to you all about both general jobs/job categories and more specific listings that you can all dive into! In terms of general jobs, you can always work at a boutique, a store in a mall, or even create your own self-run clothing store by selling your gently used items on websites like

In addition, if you want to work for online clothing websites and/or clothing boutiques for the summer, e-mail the contact information presented to you by your favorite online shop (for example, my best friend applied to LF internships simply by going to their website.) Now, let’s move onto the more specific job listings!

Part-time stylist for Dress Barn

The Dress Barn is currently looking for part-time stylists! All you have to do is submit your resume to the Washington, D.C. location and talk to a representative! Styling experience is huge because it incorporates all facets of fashion jobs, buying, selling, finances, conversational skills, etc. All of these skills will become useful for when you look for a full-time job in the real world.

Master stylist for Mainstream Boutique

Even the most random of places, like Canton, Ohio, possess a variety of fashion opportunities. This particular job involves being both a stylist and a brand ambassador, which is essentially a job where you can post on social media while sitting in your bed eating a pint of Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream.

Once again, “Indeed” makes this job extremely easy to apply to, so, for all of my readers in Ohio, take a look at this fabulous opportunity and send your cover letter and resume! Note: this job is also available in Pearland, Texas!

Cusp Two Tier

Cusp is a branch of Neiman Marcus that is catered to a much younger crowd than Neiman Marcus in general. I have shopped at Cusp many times and I am truly never disappointed with their selection. If you are a young adult living in the D.C. area, then you should definitely apply to this job because it is more of a full-time endeavor. You get to be surrounded by the beautiful streets of Georgetown, which is a huge fashion hub. This job allows you to make valuable connections and everlasting relationships with people in high-up fashion positions!

Sassanova sales stylist

If you go to Georgetown, George Washington University, the University of Maryland, or any other school in the DMV area then you need to check out this job listing. Sassanova is a cute boutique-style shop that sells shoes and accessories that cater to teenagers, young adults, and parents!

They are currently offering a sales stylist part-time job that will knock your socks off. It has flexible hours and it requires only a high school degree (or equivalent) so even future high school graduates can apply and continue the job through the college career!

So, there you have it ladies and gentlemen … an extensive list of part-time jobs and methods as to how to obtain these jobs! If you want more options, use the two website options listed above and/or type in “fashion part-time jobs” into Google. I did that when looking for summer internships and it was extremely helpful!

Remember, another easy way to get involved in fashion with extremely flexible work hours is by applying to be a brand ambassador for a store, a brand, a designer, or a start-up fashion company — the possibilities are actually endless! Becoming a brand ambassador also allows you to work your way up in a particular company, starting early, and potentially getting a job right away after you graduate college!

Good luck to all of my readers and happy job hunting!

I am currently a junior at the University of Michigan.
